Experimenting with colour and movement

- By drawing while on the train, in colour, it helped me explore colour and motion and how to translate it into painting. I used a variety of colours that I quickly saw, some being completely abstract and explored how this expresses the movement.

- Although drawing while such movement was happening was difficult, learning to just look at shapes instead of fixating on creating a realistic visual of what I was seeing meant I was able to create really interesting, almost geometric images that depicted the movement of landscapes.

- I really enjoyed exploring the use of colour, as although some were correct, much of it was completely randomised and more to do with co ordination, which I then further explored when doing my pieces done on wood that were focused around scale and illusion as I could explore the illusion and distortion through the abstract use of colour.

- Generally, it has really helped me experiment with colour and how it can work together, highlight and create tone while not representing an entirely realistic visual. The last image was a version I did afterwards where I incorporated many of the initial images all together with paint and created the effect of movement through shapes and layering. The use of layering the marks I made created the effect of motion worked well.
