Analysis

I found the research and influence I took from Ruth Asawa's design pieces benefitted my work the best as I was able to explore the idea of weaving and working with the wire to construct a form. I would've liked to expand my research further into different forms of design used based around the arm and look at designers who have had the idea of arm cuffs as a focus in their work. I found the wire very interesting to work with as the stiffness made it a good mold while it is a material that is malleable to make aesthetic patterns or accessories with such as flowers. Experimenting with the ways we were able to make the initial structures into jewellery helped me look at simple mechanisms from a variety of perspectives. This also helped me look at how the structure I created could be a architectural structure such as a tunnel or installation along with a form of accessory! I would love to look further into making it a thicker and more constricted form while also easily being able to remove on and off the body as if the arm were a canvas, which I struggled to do.
